The best engineering book I have ever read
This book was an indispensible study tool for my PhD qualifying exam in high temp gas dynamics. Before reading this book I had never had a formal compressible flow class and I think that it covers the fundamental concepts of frozen compressible flow very well. If you don't have an excellent understanding of normal and oblique shocks, expansion fans, nozzle flow, blunt body flow and shock tubes after reading this book, you haven't been paying attention!
a little disappointing
Well written classic supersonic theory, but "flavor" of numerical methods is given only : I think a college textbook of that price should give more than just flavor. Classic supersonic theory is not complete and needs to be integrated with other prior classic books (i.e. Ferri, Aerodynamics of supersonic flows). Overally, a little disappointing about the quantity of information given.
Heavy in math, but illustrations and commentary helps.
As it must be, this book is heavy in math, yet does not treat the subject just from a mathmatics point of view. It is filled with illustrations, photographs and commentary to help explain the subject matter. The only thing that seems to be missing is a math symbols list! It's a good text, well written and worth the money.

Hard to believe anything other than luck and maybe fate, never mind a book, can make someone fall in love with you, but oddly enough, Leil Lowndes seems to offer the advice that can do just that in How to Make Anyone Fall in Love with You. The sensation of falling in love comes from a chemical secreted by the nervous system, phenylethylamine (or PEA, as Lowndes calls it, as in "Scientists tell us only PEA-brained people fall in Love"), and the trick is to trigger the manufacture of PEA in your potential love partner, giving him or her the sensation of being in love. Lowndes offers 85 techniques for "Hunters and Huntresses" to capture their "Quarry." Much of what the book offers is common sense--the power of eye contact and compliments--but it's presented in a new way and with such detail that it seems that it can't help but work.
Following some of her advice will have you treading that fine line between nice and obsequious, and at times, this book may sound offensive to some, advising the reader to play what may sound like games. Lowndes is aware of this, and she offers some caveats, but still it is hard to get past advice such as, "Show him you're smart, but remember--not too smart" or "Watch your Quarry's reactions to outside stimuli, then show the same emotions." In all fairness, Lowndes doesn't play favorites: her advice to men and women can be equally appalling. Yet, the relaxed style of this book, presenting solid wisdom with a bit of scientific support, makes this book appealing, and, who knows, maybe it will make you more appealing, too! --Jenny Brown

Clearly written. Upon my first read it was quickly apparent that the author had a deep understanding of words and enjoyed using them to great effect. His style vivid and poetic. I had the feeling that he was right there, before me, relaying the information in a friendly and direct manner. This masterful style kept my eyes pasted to the page.
The content is a valuable look into human nature and psychology. In this book Doctor LaVey formulates the philosophy of Satanism and explains its purpose and application.
Dr. LaVey cuts through the bullshit and gets right down to business. Not a single word is wasted as Anton LaVey rips open the nature of the human animal like no other.
